THANKS FOR CARING!

Often, and rightfully so, there is great concern and compassion focused on those who are in the most immediate and most desperate need of loving support and care. For a brief time in the recent past, that was me. I needed, and was the most fortunate recipient of copious amounts of loving care and attention. Though most benevolently bestowed, and I could go on and on about it, this story is not about the wonderful care and attention I received. And, although it certainly could be, truth be told, it isn’t about how care was so generously and selflessly lavished upon me either. Instead, it is about my awakening to how grateful I was for those loving individuals who supplied it.

My hope is that this story is so much bigger than my experience. It is meant to extend a most heartfelt thanks to all who give aid, comfort and care to those who need it most. It is for all the patience, self-sacrifice, love, and unyielding dedication of the human spirit that these very special human beings display and bring to the lives they serve. They are truly the unsung, and often the virtually undetected heroes of our times. And yet, more often than not, however unjustly, these individuals are regretfully and sadly relegated to the ranks of the dramatically underappreciated. 

That said, this story is an attempt to let them know that although their efforts may appear to go unnoticed and for not, we who are indebted to your dutiful care are as grateful for it as we are in need of it. If it goes unmentioned, is taken for granted, or appears to be treated with less than the gratitude and respect it deserves, please accept this story as a most humble apology. My most fervent hope is that this story will try to set the record straight, focus special attention on, and heap a harvest of bountiful, well deserved, thankful praise in the direction of those who are so truly deserving of it. 

Knowing full well it may not suffice, and believing no words in this language or any other could ever convey enough sentiment to do it justice, my hope is but to humbly leave you with a final simple truth. 

We are so very, very thankful for your care!
